FC Monmouth Preps For Tryouts

Written By Chris Dailey

FC Monmouth will be hosting tryouts for the 2024 NPSL season on Sunday, March 10, from 10 AM - 12 PM at Count Basie Park. With check ins beginning at 9:30AM.

Tryouts have been beneficial throughout FC Monmouth’s history in scouting some of the best players to dawn the crest.

Tryouts start with some small technical warmups before opening up to full fielded, 11v11 games.

The Blue and Gold’s seven years in the NPSL has been largely successful with several playoff runs throughout. Head Coach, John Killick, is trying to smash those this upcoming spring.

“Goals for this year are to be more structured and efficient. and hopefully take the club to the highest level of the competition.  It's my third year in charge and I am expecting my best year yet,” stated Killick.

FC Monmouth finished fourth in the Keystone East Conference last year, but the team gained serious momentum in the back half of the year.

Killick now hopes to bring in a more well-balanced team.

“The soccer we played last year was amazing, and you can win games like that. We will be looking for offensive minded players who can score some goals. We will also be looking for players who can compliment our returning players,” said Killick.

With a large crop of talented players coming back and the future of FC Monmouth about to step onto the pitch at Count Basie, prospects look good for an improved season.

FC Monmouth’s season begins on May 11th away from home against Philadelphia Union DS. The Blue and Gold return to Count Basie Park on the 15th against the West Chester Predators.
