FC Monmouth to play local friendly game

FC Monmouth’s 2023 season kicks off Saturday, May 6 at 430 PM in a preseason friendly against Central Jersey locals, Real Central NJ of USL League 2.

Real Central NJ is led by former FC Monmouth Head Coach and legend of the club, Brian Woods.

For the first 4 years in FC Monmouth’s history, Woods led the club to one Keystone Conference Finals appearance.

Captain Rhys Cotter and several other returnees including Mikel Rodriguez and AJ Montana are joined by newcomers such as Conor Kelly from NC State and Jack Wagoner from UPenn, all will be on display for their 2023 debuts in this preseason friendly. 

Current Head Coach, John Killick, is ecstatic to see what a new look FC Monmouth roster will bring to the table.

The game will be played at Five Points Park in Colts Neck and all of the local community is invited.

“It’s a great way for us to let people know the season is starting. By playing in their hometown for their youth players to see, it will hopefully create some role models,” said Killick.

Killick is looking forward to the match and any other local games that are on the horizon.

“We talked about a few local exhibition games. Finally we have one, and it’s hopefully the first of many more,” stated Killick.

The game is free admission and gates open at 3:30 at Five Point Park in Colts Neckl, FC Monmouth invites all fans to attend and support the team as they kick off their 2023 campaign.
